Jaguar C-X17: crossover concept revealed in leaked image

The first clean image of the Jaguar C-X17 concept has appeared online, giving us our best look yet at what is due to become the brand's first crossover.

There are few surprises in the C-X17 concept's front-end styling, which embraces the design language of Jaguar's XF and XJ model lines.

Sinister-looking LED-infused headlights flank a prominent upright black mesh grille, while LED rings encircle large lower air intakes.

Grey plastic skirting beneath the front bumper and a metal scuff plate give the Jaguar C-X17 concept a purposeful, capable appearance, which is further emphasised by its muscular, contoured bonnet.

A white leather interior with four individual seats promises a premium cabin treatment.

The latest image comes just days after Jaguar released a shadowy rear three-quarter teaser shot previewing the C-X17 concept’s athletic lines, slim greenhouse, muscular rear haunches and piercing LED tail-lights reminiscent of those on the F-Type.

The luxury British manufacturer says the concept introduces its “highly advanced, modular aluminium architecture” and “illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future for the Jaguar brand”.

The production version of Jaguar’s C-X17-based crossover is tipped to reach showrooms by 2016.

Full details of the concept will be revealed at an exclusive event on September 9 ahead of its Frankfurt motor show debut the following day.
