Lexus LF-CC-based Super GT racer revealed

The Lexus LF-CC Super GT racer has been revealed ahead of its competitive debut in next year's 2014 season of the Japanese domestic racing series.

Based on the two-door Lexus LF-CC coupe concept that debuted at the 2012 Paris motor show, the bright orange race car features a hugely aggressive exterior with massively flared wheel arches and plenty of aero assistance.

Designed to compete in the GT500 class of Super GT, along with manufacturers such as Toyota, Subaru, Nissan and Honda as well as Europe's best, the new Lexus LF-CC Super GT car is a replacement for the currently used SC 430-based vehicle – a car that ceased production in road form in 2010.

As per 2014 class regulations, the Lexus will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre direct-injection four-cylinder engine.

The new Lexus racer was joined by the Honda NSX Concept-GT and new Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500 racers at a recent shakedown test at the 5.8km Suzuka Circuit.

The 2014 Super GT season is planned to kick off on April 5, with Round One taking place at the Okayama International Circuit.
