2014 Skoda Yeti: two styles available in facelifted SUV range

The updated Skoda Yeti has been officially revealed ahead of its world debut at next month's Frankfurt motor show, where two distinct variants will be unveiled.

Available for the first time in two styles, the refreshed Skoda Yeti aims to offer customers a compact SUV for the city (pictured below) and one for off-road adventures (pictured top).

Both variations feature a more conservative front end, in-line with Skoda's current design language seen on the Rapid and new Octavia, with a revised grille and squarer headlights available with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The outgoing Yeti's high-mounted round fog lights have also been replaced by rectangular units positioned low in the front bumper.

The rear receives a revised tailgate and optionally available LED tail-lights.

While the 'city' version of the new-look Skoda Yeti has its front and rear bumpers, underbody guard, side mouldings and door sills finished in body colour, the 'outdoor' variant has stronger visual ties to the current model, carrying over its black plastic panels.

The inside has been upgraded with a new three-spoke steering wheel, new seat fabrics and trim changes.

To be offered in front- and all-wheel drive with manual and dual-clutch automatic transmissions, the new Skoda Yeti will be powered by a choice of four diesel and three petrol engines. All turbocharged units, they range from a 77kW 1.2-litre petrol to a 125kW 2.0-litre diesel.

A 77kW 1.6-litre Greenline diesel tied exclusively to a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive also features, claiming benchmark economy of 4.6 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions of 119 grams per kilometre.

Along with an increase in boot capacity and load space with the rear seats removed – up from a minimum of 310L to 405L, and from 1665L to 1760L respectively – the new Yeti gains automatic park assist with rear-view camera, double-sided boot floor covering, a detachable LED light and a 'waste container' in the side door. The Yeti’s VarioFlex rear seat system remains, as do thefolding tables mounted on the back of the front seats.

Four new alloy wheel designs also join an expanded colour palette that includes four new metallic finishes: Moon White, Jungle Green, Metal Grey, and Magnetic Brown.

The facelifted Skoda Yeti is due to launch globally by the end of 2013 before reaching local showrooms in mid 2014.
