Kia city car concept for Frankfurt 2013

Kia will continue its recent love affair with concept cars at September's 2013 Frankfurt motor show with a new city-focused show car.

The South Korean brand has released two images of the model it says "hints at a possible future B-segment contender ready to take on the urban environment with style and tenacity".

The darkened picture of the exterior suggests another stylish-looking compact concept from the manufacturer after the Kia Provo from March's 2013 Geneva motor show, which pointed to a potential new Mini rival.

Created in Europe for European market tastes, the concept uses touches of fluorescent yellow both inside and out, including the grille, side mirrors, air vent surrounds and paddle shift levers.

The front seats are formed from a single piece of unspecified material that also accounts for the centre console.

Two tubes rise out of the centre console into the dash, with the left tube featuring a twisting PRND gear selector for the automatic transmission. Markings on the other tube suggest it could be a controller for the audio system.

Dash toggles above point to the concept being all-wheel drive - with features that include hill descent control and what appears to be a switch for a centre diff lock.

Kia will no doubt reveal more details on September 10th at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show.
