Porsche Macan Turbo: hotter luxury crossover spied

The Porsche Macan and Macan Turbo have been spied in their most revealing guise yet ahead of the anticipated launch of the all-new nameplate at November's Los Angeles auto show.

The images uncover all but the headlights and tail-lights of the compact luxury crossovers, which remain disguised by stickers styled like those of the larger Cayenne.

The spy shots confirm the Porsche Macan will borrow heavily from its big brother, featuring a wide grille with broad side intakes, round headlights and curvaceous body panels.

Most distinctive is the Macan’s rear end, which features a heavily raked rear back window and a boomerang-style kink in the tailgate.

Differentiating the Porsche Macan Turbo (top three images) from the entry model (below) are larger front air intakes, bigger alloy wheels and brakes, red brake calipers, and quad exhaust outlets.

Porsche is yet to confirm what engines will find their way under the bonnet of the Macan, though reports suggest it is likely to adopt retuned versions of sister brand Audi’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder and supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engines. A Macan Turbo S with a twin-turbo V6 producing approximately 260kW has also been rumoured.

The Porsche Macan will go on sale in Australia in mid 2014.
