Mazda 3: all-new small car revealed at 4:30am

Update: The embargo has been broken and the all-new Mazda 3 has been revealed. Full story here: 2014 Mazda 3 revealed.

The all-new Mazda 3 will be officially unveiled in the early hours of Thursday morning as part of a global reveal.

Mazda has published a teaser image of the new 3's grille (top) on its Facebook page today as part of the build-up.

CarAdvice will be among the first in the world with images and details of the third-generation Mazda 3 when the embargo lifts at 4:30am AEST on June 27.

Mazda will focus on the design of the new Japanese small car in this initial presentation, which will be streamed on Xbox Live in the first-ever global live stream of a new vehicle unveiling.

While Mazda ignored the modern trend of releasing sketches and teaser images to build momentum ahead of the unveiling, a series of spy shots and leaks in magazines and brochures have given us a clear picture of what to expect from almost every angle of the new Mazda 3, including its front, rear (above) and interior.

The new Mazda 3 will be built from the ground up using the brand’s Skyactiv drivetrain, chassis and aerodynamic technologies, incorporating its new fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines, stop-start and energy regeneration systems.

The second-generation Mazda 3 has been Australia’s most popular car for the past two years, and the third-generation 3 will look to pick up where its predecessor left off when it launches locally at the beginning of 2014.
