Fiat 500L Living: seven-seat ‘Magic Purpose Wagon’ revealed

The first official images of the seven-seat Fiat 500L Living have been released ahead of its world premiere in July.

Claimed to be the most compact '5+2-seater' MPV in its segment, the Fiat 500L Living gains an additional third seating row over the standard 500L seen in 2012.

Measuring 4350mm long, 1780mm wide and 1670mm high, the Living is 210mm longer, just as wide, and 10mm taller than the 500L. With a load capacity of 638 litres, the 500L Living also offers 295L more space then the 500L’s 343-litre luggage compartment.

Fiat defines its new people-mover as a ‘Magic Purpose Wagon', claiming to incorporate all the charm of the 500, the agility of a city-car, the dimensions of a mid-size car, the comfort and contents of a small station wagon or saloon, and the space and versatility of an MPV.

To be produced at Fiat’s Kragujevac plant in Serbia, the Fiat 500L Living will launch in Italy with two petrol engines – a 70kW 1.4-litre and a 77kW 0.9-litre TwinAir Turbo – and two turbo-diesels –a 63kW 1.3-litre MultiJet II and a 77kW 1.6-litre MultiJet II. The diesels will also be offered with automatic transmissions.

Inside, new leather trims, an integrated satellite navigation system and a reversing camera have all been added.

Available with both five and seven seats, and in two trim levels (Pop Star and Lounge), orders for the Fiat 500L Living will open in Italy in July before being extended to other countries.

While Fiat Chrysler Australia is currently reviewing the Fiat 500L Living, and the standard 500L, both are likely to reach our market by late 2014/early 2015.

This year marks six years since the modern iteration of the Fiat 500 city car began production in 2007.
