Honda Concept M: China-bound MPV revealed in Shanghai

The Honda Concept M has made its world premiere at the 2013 Shanghai auto show, previewing a future production people-mover due to go on sale exclusively in China from next year.

Teased in a sketch earlier this month and designed at the Automobile R&D Centre of Honda R&D in Japan, the Honda Concept M is an MPV concept developed for the Chinese market that Honda says offers the attributes of a passenger car with a comfortable and spacious cabin while also being fun to drive.

President of Honda Motor China, Seiji Kuraishi, said the company planned to continue proposing automobiles that offered new value to customers in China.

“We believe that our role is to initiate actions to create new things and carve out a new and fun future together with our customers,” Kuraishi said.

Honda also announced the production names for its Concept C and Concept S models, both unveiled at the 2012 Beijing motor show. Due to go on sale in June is the Concept C-based sedan, dubbed the Crider, while the production people-mover based on the Concept S, to be known as the Jade, will follow soon after in September.
