Subaru WRX concept: design breakdown

Subaru has released a video explaining the design elements of the Subaru WRX concept unveiled at last month's New York auto show.

Subaru’s general manager of design, Osamu Namba, describes the philosophies and influences behind the Subaru WRX concept and the next 2.0-litre turbocharged WRX production car – expected to be the fastest Subaru WRX model yet.

Shorter, lower and wider than both the old WRX and the current Impreza, the Subaru WRX concept is finished in ‘WR Blue Pearl III’ paint, with a carbonfibre roof, fluorescent yellow brake callipers, WRX grille badge and exhaust details and sits on 20-inch BBS forged alloy wheels.

The next-generation Subaru WRX is likely to be unveiled at the Tokyo motor show in November, where fellow Japanese performance brand Nissan, is due to reveal an all-new sports car to sit alongside the 370Z and GT-R.
