Volkswagen unveils capped-price servicing program

Volkswagen has announced it will offer fixed-price vehicle servicing across its entire range of passenger vehicles.

Initially introduced on the Volkswagen Up! in October last year, the extended capped-price servicing program takes effect from March 28, 2013 and applies to all Volkswagen passenger vehicles sold through its Australian dealer network from January 1, 2013.

This includes Volkswagen Beetles sold since February 23, 2013 and will include the Golf 7 once it goes on sale on April 27, 2013. The program will also continue to apply to Up! models sold since October 6, 2012.

Covering a period of six years or 90,000km (whichever comes first), Volkswagen’s capped-price scheduled services include the regular replacement of engine oil, oil filters and a sump plug washer at each service interval, as well as the additional replacement of the air filter at 45,000 and 90,000km and spark plugs every 60,000km.

Under the new scheme the cheapest service will be $280 for a 15,000km or 12-month service on a 2012/2013 Volkswagen Up!, with the highest reaching $988 for a 90,000km or 72-month service on a 2013 Volkswagen Touareg V8 TDI R-Line 4.2-Litre diesel.

Based on the full term of cover, a Volkswagen Golf GTI will cost owners a total of $2822 in scheduled services under the program.

The capped-price servicing program joins existing Volkswagen aftersales services such as Volkswagen’s roadside assist and vehicle warranty and does not cover commercial vehicles.
