Opel Adam Rocks: sketches reveal city-sized crossover concept

Design sketches and details of the Opel Adam Rocks have been revealed ahead of the concept's unveiling at next month's 2013 Geneva motor show.

Inspired by parkour athletes, Opel says the pint-sized Adam Rocks urban crossover concept pushes the boundaries of the standard three-door Adam’s personalisation potential.

Combining a higher and wider stance, chunky plastic bumpers and wheel arches, metal underbody protection and substantial 18-inch alloy wheels, Opel says the Adam Rocks is designed for those seeking adventure off the beaten track.

Adding to the sense of freedom is a folding fabric roof, which spans the entire length and width of the roof from A-pillar to C-pillar. The innovative “networked roof” is linked to a weather app in the concept’s IntelliLink touchscreen infotainment system and automatically closes if it detects that rain is imminent.

A prominent grille with LED headlights, boomerang-shaped front and rear indicators and a centrally positioned exhaust outlet further differentiate the Adam Rocks from the base city car.

The Adam Rocks concept will make its world premiere in Geneva on March 5 alongside the Opel Cascada, Adam Rallye R2 racecar and the Zafira Tourer 1.6 CDTI people-mover.
