The 38 foot (11.6 metre) long Cigarette AMG Electric Drive concept powerboat is the result of a joint development project between Mercedes-AMG and Miami-based boat manufacturer Cigarette Racing.
Sharing styling ideas and the 552kW/1000Nm Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG’s electric drive layout, the powerboat produces 1656kW and 3000Nm thanks to 12 electric motors spread across two drive units. The emission-free package means a top speed of over 160km/h, which Mercedes-Benz says makes it not only the world's most powerful electrically driven powerboat, but also the fastest.
Fitted as standard with two 22kW on-board chargers from the SLS AMG Electric Drive that allow for a full recharge in about seven hours, the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive concept can be fitted with four on-board chargers as an option reducing charging time to less than three hours.
The Cigarette AMG Electric Drive powerboat will be easy to spot on the water, finished in AMG’s Electricbeam magno paint with AMG logos, while carbon touches and AMG dials complete the cockpit.
The new AMG powerboat follows last year’s 14-metre-long Silver Arrows Marine-built Mercedes-Benz-designed Granturismo motor yacht.
