Suzuki crossover: first official images

The new Suzuki crossover based on the company's 2012 S-Cross concept has been partly revealed in production form ahead of its debut at the 2013 Geneva motor show in March.

The Japanese brand has released virtually no further information on the compact SUV, though has confirmed it will be all-wheel drive and feature one of the largest cargo capacities in its segment.

The main teaser image suggests the production version won't stray that far from the S-Cross concept shown at the 2012 Paris motor show last September. That means a hatchback-style design approach like the S-Cross concept - and similar crossovers such as the Nissan Dualis - rather than the off-roader styling cues seen on some of the company's well known compact models such as the Vitara.

Suzuki has yet to announce a name for the new model that measures 4310mm long - longer than a VW Golf but shorter than an Audi Q3 - and that it simply describes as a "C-segment [small car] crossover".

The crossover is believed to sit on a new platform, with a choice of petrol and diesel engines likely to be offered.

Media reveals at the 2013 Geneva motor show will begin on 5th March.
