Jenson Button drives McLaren P1 at F1 car launch

The upcoming McLaren P1 supercar has made a brief appearance at the English brand's launch event for its 2013 Formula One car, driven by the team's number one driver Jenson Button.

The 2009 F1 World Champion got behind the wheel of the McLaren P1 – recently spotted continuing its development – for a drive around the McLaren Technology Centre in Surrey, while his new Vodafone McLaren Mercedes teammate, Sergio Perez, steered a McLaren MP4-12C Spider.

While the launch of the F1 team’s new MP4-28 racecar was the focus of the event, the two road cars led a parade of McLaren racers to kick off McLaren’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Joining the P1 and 12C were Emerson Fittipaldi’s 1974 M23, Ayrton Senna’s 1988 MP4/4, the 1995 Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR, Mika Hakkinen’s 1998 MP4-13, and Lewis Hamilton's 2008 championship winning McLaren MP4-23.

The 2013 Formula One season starts in Melbourne on March 14, with the release of the McLaren P1 due to follow later in the year.
