Following sketches revealing its first production model, a compact sedan, and two concept cars, the Qoros HQ3 Cross teasers give an insight into the company’s determination to crack the Chinese and European markets with its range of Chinese-built vehicles.
The Qoros HQ3 Cross is believed to share its platform with the company’s GQ3 compact sedan, and team a four-cylinder petrol engine with either a conventional manual transmission or a dual-clutch automatic option. According to some early reports, a performance SUV model, dubbed XQ3, may also be added to the Qoros line-up by 2015.
The image (pictured top) – seen on Chinese website Auto Sohu –shows a stocky, big-wheeled, futuristic-looking two-door compact SUV with a sharp line separating the car’s canopy from its mid section and a highly accentuated line from the C-pillars out towards the tail-lights.
The clip shows Qoros’ head designer, former Mini design director Gert Volker Hildebrand, explaining the process of how an idea for a car like the HQ3 Cross becomes a full-scale model.
