Ford Ranger increases towing capacity to joint class-leading 3500kg

The Ford Ranger ute now boasts joint class-leading towing capacity of 3500kg after the introduction of some chassis-strengthening measures.

The revised braked towing capacity rating is for its diesel-powered 4x2 Hi-Rider and 4x4 variants fitted with the company's official tow pack and tow ball.

Ford says the increase of 150kg, which allows the Ranger to match the freshly released rival Holden Colorado, "was achieved through structural chassis changes including changes to welding patterns and welding points".

Ford Australia has sold more than 15,0000 of the locally developed Ranger ute since its launch in late 2010.
