Like the standard 895kW Venom GT from the Texas-based performance car company, the new Hennessy Venom GT2 will get the same Chevrolet-sourced 7.0-litre V8 with twin turbochargers and a host of other performance modifications to enable the GT2 version to best the GT’s performance credentials of 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 423km/h.
Power will be channeled to the rear wheels via a Tremec six-speed manual transmission or optional seven-speed automatic with paddle-shifters.
The latest renderings reveal a double-bubble roof that not only replaces the roof-scoop on the Venom GT, but also provides more headroom for taller drivers. The doors now swing upwards using special dihedral hinges, similar to those used on the Lamborghini Murcielago.
There’s also a new face with sharply outlined LED headlamps and a lower front splitter finished in exposed carbonfibre.
With Koenigsegg’s upcoming One:1 supercar and Bugatti believed to be working on an 1193kW road bullet, things might get a little crowded in the garage, but only if you have the sufficient funds – the Hennessy Venom GT2 coming in at a lazy $1.23 million.
