Holden Cruze Sportwagon: pricing and specifications

The imported Holden Cruze Sportwagon will start $4300 higher than the locally built hatch and sedan variants of the small car.

Holden has announced pricing and specifications for the new wagon version of the Cruze at a media launch ahead of its showroom on-sale in January.

As confirmed by Holden at the 2012 Sydney motor show in October, the Holden Cruze Sportwagon is offered with a six-speed automatic gearbox only, mated to either a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol or 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel.

The 1.4-litre turbo petrol that is the pick of the Cruze hatch/sedan engine line-up is not offered.

The lack of a manual transmission offering makes the Sportwagon's $25,790 starting price higher initially, though the wagon's actual premium over the comparable Cruze sedan or hatch is $2000.

The Holden Cruze Sportwagon CD and CDX trim levels are matched to those of the other variants.

The Cruze Sportwagon CD features include 16-inch steel wheels, cruise control, Bluetooth with voice recognition, rear parking sensors and auto headlights. Choosing the diesel instead of the petrol engine costs another $4000, from $29,790.

The Cruze Sportwagon CDX is available only with the 1.8 petrol. Additional standard gear includes leather seat trim, heated front seats, climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, and fog lights.
