Local car maker Holden has announced pricing for the new Barina CDX variant that was first shown at the 2012 Sydney motor show and goes on sale in December.

The Holden Barina CDX is available in both hatch and $500-higher sedan form and carries a $2500 premium over the corresponding CD model. CDX models are equipped with a six-speed auto only, whereas CDs come standard with a six-speed manual.

One of the key new features of the upper-level Barina is Holden's MyLink infotainment system that displays music, video, contacts to a seven-inch colour touchscreen and will eventually have the option of downloadable apps for features such as satellite navigation and internet radio.

Other features particular to the Holden Barina CDX include 17-inch alloy wheels (15-inch alloys on CD), fog lights, electric power steering, reversing sensors, upgraded seat trim, heated front seats, trip computer, and leather-bound steering wheel and gearshift lever.

The Holden Barina CD prices remain unchanged, starting from $15,990 for a manual hatch and $16,490 for a manual sedan. The six-speed auto is a $2000 option.

All Barina models are powered by a 85kW/155Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
