Lexus IS 250C F Sport: performance model topless for first time

The Lexus IS 250C F Sport will mark the 11th F Sport performance model for the luxury Japanese car maker and the first sporty convertible variant when it goes on sale from mid-November.

Differentiating itself from the standard Lexus IS 250C, the Lexus IS 250C F Sport features a unique mesh grille, lower lip spoiler, F Sport fog lights and special F Sport 10-spoke graphite-look 18-inch alloy wheels.

Along with the visual changes, the Lexus IS 250C F Sport receives genuine sports touches to the suspension calibration including retuned front and rear suspension; revised bushings, damping characteristics and rear stabiliser bar; and enhanced spring rates.

Inside, the drop-top F Sport sees the addition of black leather accented seats highlighted by contrasting perforations and stitching, an F Sport steering wheel and gear lever, F Sport scuff plates and a black roof liner.

The base car’s three-piece metal folding roof (which takes 20 seconds to disappear), 153kW/252Nm 2.5-litre quad-cam V6 engine and six-speed sequential transmission with manual mode all remain.

At $82,300, the IS 250C F Sport will sit above both the $76,300 Prestige and $81,300 Sports IS250C models, but $12,000 below the $94,300 Sports Luxury variant. An optional enhancement pack that includes active cruise control, a pre-collision safety system and a Mark Levinson audio system is also available for a $6000 premium.

Accompanying the introduction of the IS 250C F Sport, Lexus is upgrading the entire IS convertible range to include navigation, audio, voice control and Bluetooth systems that will now include Bluetooth audio streaming.
