Ford to host interactive outdoor display at 2012 Sydney motor show

Ford Australia will let punters get behind the wheel of its new and upcoming cars and test their latest technologies in a hands-on interactive outdoor demonstration at the 2012 Sydney motor show.

Ford's motor show presentation will offer three unique experiences: an undercover static display of 14 vehicles including the Fiesta Metal, Focus ST, all-new EcoSport and Kuga SUVs and FPR’s V8 Supercar ‘Car of the Future’ prototype; a container display, with five cars mounted atop bright blue shipping containers; and a ‘Smart Drive’ track that gives showgoers the chance to test the features of selected models.

During the 10-minute Smart Drive, visitors to the Ford stand will be able to experience the Active City Stop emergency braking, Active Park Assist and Sync connectivity systems of the Ford Focus Titanium; use the foot-activated ‘open sesame’ automatic tailgate of the Ford Kuga; witness the Ford Falcon EcoBoost on a dyno; and experience the hill descent/ascent control functions of the Ford Ranger.

Up to seven vehicles will circulate the specially constructed track across the 10 days of the motor show as Ford aims to engage potential customers with creative and dynamic displays of the key technologies and capabilities of its new vehicles.

Ford’s Smart Drive display is positioned just 10m near the main Darling Harbour entrance to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The 2012 Sydney motor show is open to the public from October 19 to October 28.
