Suzuki Swift Sport: hot concept headed for Sydney motor show

A one-off Suzuki Swift Sport concept designed by the car's chief engineer will headline Suzuki Australia's stand at next week's 2012 Sydney motor show.

First unveiled earlier this year at the Tokyo Auto Salon, the Swift Sport concept by Suzuki's Naoyuki Takeuchi sports a racy body kit with aggressive side skirts and large black rear spoiler, black and silver 18-inch alloy wheels, an uprated brake package with blue calipers, and a bespoke interior with Recaro seats.

Suzuki says the Swift Sport concept gives an insight into its future design and engineering plans for the Swift, which is the Japanese manufacturer’s top-selling vehicle around the world.

The concept is equipped with the 100kW/160Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine from the production model.

Suzuki Australia had hoped to display the recently revealed Suzuki S-Cross concept at the Sydney show, but could not get the car here in time following its international debut at the 2012 Paris motor show.

The Swift Sport concept will line up alongside the recently upgraded versions of the Suzuki SX4 small car and Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV, as well as a number of the manufacturer’s motorcycles and marine vehicles in a display designed to celebrate the depth and heritage of the Suzuki brand.

A Hayabusa motorcycle and Josh Waters’ championship-winning GSX-R1000 sports bike will join a seven-metre bowrider boat outfitted with a 130kW Suzuki engine on what will be the only motor show stand to showcase a manufacturer’s full array of transportation options.
