Kia Soul EV due in 2014: report

An all-electric Kia Soul based on the next generation of the boxy small car will provide the Korean brand with its first globally available electric vehicle when it launches in 2014.

According to a report from UK publication Autocar, the company has confirmed the plan for the Kia Soul EV, which will join the all-new conventional internal combustion-powered model that is destined to launch in Australia in 2014.

The second-generation Soul has been spied testing in Europe recently, with its Peter Schreyer-designed body largely hidden by camouflage.

An electric Kia Soul would further the company’s push towards efficient vehicles, following the unveiling of the Kia Optima Hybrid at last month's 2012 Paris motor show.
