Opel Australia announces capped-price servicing program

Opel Australia has announced a capped-price servicing program and a standard three-year free roadside assistance package on the eve of its official launch into the local new car market.

The Opel Service Plus program applies to all three launch models – the Opel Corsa city car, the Opel Astra small car (including the Astra GTC pictured top) and the Opel Insignia medium car – and covers scheduled servicing for the first three years or 45,000km of ownership, whichever comes first.

Services will be capped at $249 for the Corsa, $299 for the Astra and $349 for the Insignia, covering all powertrains.

Opel Australia managing director Bill Mott said building strong and open relationships with consumers from the outset with offers like capped-price servicing was essential to making a successful local launch.

"Through the introduction from launch of Opel Service Plus and Opel Service Assist we feel that any potential customer fears regarding unknown or expensive servicing costs, or the lack of roadside care when it comes to a new brand in the market, are addressed head on with our programs," Mott said.

All models will also come standard with Opel Assist Plus, a 24-hour roadside assistance program facilitated by Assist Australia covering the first three years of ownership.

All vehicles sold by Opel Australia will be covered by a three-year/100,000km warranty, matching that offered by General Motors sister company Holden.

Opel is one of a number of brands to announce capped-price servicing programs in Australia in 2012, following Holden, Hyundai and Kia, and others.
