Toyota LandCruiser Altitude special edition released

The special edition Toyota LandCruiser Altitude has been launched in Australia, adding more than $4000 in extra features to the full-size four-wheel drive.

The LandCruiser 200 Series Altitude is priced from $90,490, making it $2000 more expensive than the GXL diesel variant on which it is based.

For the extra cash, the Toyota LandCruiser Altitude adds 18-inch alloy wheels (including a full-size alloy spare), roof rails, black leather-accented interior, premium steering wheel and gearshift knob, electric front seats, a cooler box and Altitude badging.

Five exterior colours are available: Shimmer, Graphite, Silver Pearl, Eclipse Black and Crystal Pearl – the latter two previously reserved for the more expensive VX and Sahara model grades.

The LandCruiser Altitude special edition carries over its powertrain from the GXL, pairing a 195kW/650Nm 4.5-litre V8 diesel with a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all wheels at all times.

Toyota LandCruiser SUV sales are up 36.9 per cent across Australia so far this year, surging from 4729 units to 6473. The LandCruiser has a 76.3 per cent share of the upper large SUV segment, which is a two-way battle between it and the Nissan Patrol.
