Ken Block: Gymkhana Five in San Francisco

Hardcore rally driver Ken Block has just released Gymkhana Five: Ultimate Urban Playground, the fifth instalment in his stunt-driving viral video franchise.

Filmed in San Francisco, California, Gymkhana Five builds on the ultimate playground concept of Gymkhana Three, and for the first time ever, all of his driving was done on real streets.

Block and his team turned the city by the bay with more than 7.5 million residents into their own racecourse, with the Financial District and The Bay Bridge completely shut down and deserted.

“San Francisco was absolutely amazing for Gymkhana," Block said. "It's such a unique location for this kind of driving and allowed me to do some things that I never thought I'd ever be able to incorporate into one of my Gymkhana videos-like jumping a table top or doing a jump drift.

“I'm stoked with how this project turned out and I'm truly a lucky bastard to have been able to do the things I was able to do on the streets of San Francisco. To all of the residents and people who allowed us to make this happen, thank you.”

The 10-minute film includes jumps, drifts and everything in between as we’ve come to expect from the 44-year-old daredevil, as well as a cameo appearance by motocross legend Travis Pastrana, who jumped on a motorcycle for the first time since his injury at X Games last year.
