Prince Albert of Monaco plans grand scale garage sale
Prince Albert of Monaco is auctioning off several classic cars from his late father's collection of over 100 European and American cars as he reorganises the royal fleet.
His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III, who passed away in 2005, was an avid car collector and automotive enthusiast who helped develop the Monaco Grand Prix after his father, Prince Pierre, initiated the race in 1929.
The list of 38 cars up for auction includes a 1931 Peugeot 201 Berline, 1971 Fiat 500 and a 1982 Porsche 928 S coupe among many other rare and vintage vehicles.
Every car in the sale will be offered with Monegasque papers in HSH the Prince of Monaco's name and without a reserve price, enticing collectors and potential investers even more.
Prince Albert said of the his father's collection: "Together, we established a private collection of classic cars which is particularly close to my heart. I now wish to add some new models to the collection."
The auction will take place on Thursday 26 July, 2012 at the Prince's own Terrasses de Fontvieille museum in Monaco, if you plan on emptying your bank accounts.
