Virtual racers join Sebastian Vettel at Goodwood

The 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed will provide the opportunity for England's best virtual racing drivers to race in the presence of the youngest double Formula One World Champion, Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel.

The energy drink company, and ever growing sponsor, is running a competition called Gridsters that will take the best 16 video game console racers and pit them head-to-head in a weekend tournament that will take place from Saturday June 30 – Sunday June 1 in the Red Bull Gridsters Dome at Goodwood.

The Saturday will be a round robin event seeing every player race on every track ahead of the finals on the Sunday. All matches will be four-player races with the winner of each race claiming the most points. Gamers will compete using PlaySeat simulators and the best steering wheels available so there can be no excuses.

The winner will prove to be the UK's most versatile racer with competitions covering different racing disciplines including F1, Touring Cars, Rally, Muscle cars and Le
Mans through three different driving simulators on two different gaming consoles: Forza Motorsport 4 (Xbox 360),
Gran Turismo 5 (PlayStation 3) and F1 2011 (PlayStation 3).

Red Bull is selecting the 16 finalists via online applications at its website.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from June 28 – July 1, 2012 with this year's theme appropriately titled 'Young Guns – Born to Win'.
