Range Rover Evoque Sport under consideration
Land Rover is keen to strike while the Range Rover Evoque iron is hot with word that the Indian-owned British brand is considering a high-performance Evoque Sport variant.
The 4WD company’s design director Gerry McGovern hinted at the potential new model when he told AutoExpress, “We could do a more overtly sporty one, for example”.
While nothing has been confirmed, a sport variant would likely see a performance-tweaked version of the existing 177kW/340Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, bigger wheels and brakes, lowered suspension and a bodykit.
With demand for the Evoque already high, an Evoque Sport would surely prove popular and would give Range Rover a rival to the anticipated Audi RS Q3, which was recently revealed in concept form.
If it gets the green light for production, the Range Rover Evoque Sport would join the three-door, five-door and Victoria Beckham special edition in the line-up, and potentially the Range Rover Evoque Convertible (pictured above) as well.
