3 New Audis in Melbourne – Audi TT Roadster S3 A6 allroad quattro

Audi unveiled three new cars at the Melbourne International Motorshow this morning. The new Audi TT Roadster, Audi S3 and Audi A6 allroad quattro. All three cars are set to go on sale in Australia later in the year. The highlight of the Audi show (apart from the Audi R8 Supercar) has been the Audi TT Roadster.

"Since its introduction to Australia late last year, the new Audi TT has been a huge hit with Australian consumers. The new model is in high demand and we have buyers clamouring for their car to arrive,"

"We expect that the TT Roadster will be similarly popular. It will officially arrive in June 2007, however we will use the Melbourne unveiling as an opportunity to kick off our pre-sales campaign for this new model," Audi's managing director, Joerg Hofmann said.

Audi plans to put the Audi TT Roadster on sale come June 2007. Current choices for the TT include:

  • 2.0 TFSI, priced at $77,500,
  • 3.2 V6 quattro, priced at $92,900.

Both engines feature Audi's S-tronic transmission.

Audi S3

The new Audi S3 and is expected to make its way to Australia alongside the TT in June and should be priced starting at around $66,000. The new S3 boasts a 2.0 TFSI engine with 188kW and a sporty 6-speed manual transmission.

Audi A6 allroad

Making its way to Australia in May, the new Audi A6 allroad quattro will be ready to take on the competition. The Audi promises to be one of the few "all road" vehicles that can actually live up to its name with all-terrain capabilities, the new A6 allroad quattro will be powered by the 3.0L TDI engine at launch with other engines on offer later. The new A6 allroad quattro will be priced around $106,000.

Audi R8 Supercar

Audi doesn't like to call the R8 a super car, instead opting out and calling it the Audi R8 sportscar, funnily enough, most critics agree that it is essentially a super car given its price range of around $250,000 to $300,000.

Rumour has it that the Brisbane International Motorshow held last month gave Audi a fair few sales for the R8. Audi reports that 2/3s of all its 2007 stock for the R8 have already been sold! Expect to see the Audi R8 on Australian roads from September 2007.
2007 is a big year for Audi, one which will further push the company closer to it's two big German rivals.

"Thanks to our record sales in 2006, we are in a strong position to secure a range of highlight cars to continue to showcase the brand in a high-profile way in Australia," These new models will contribute to our sales growth target of more than 10 percent in 2007." Mr Hofmann said.

We expect to get our hands on the Audi RS 4 for a road test in the next few months!
