Alfa Romeo at the Paris Motor Show

This year’s Paris Motor Show will prelude the launch of two new models in the Alfa Romeo range with the new MiTo and Brera Ti.

With the brand's notable absence from the 2008 Sydney Motor Show, Alfa Romeo has instead announced Australian-specific details surrounding its new models in the lead-up to their Paris debut.

Due to arrive locally by mid-2009, the new Alfa Romeo MiTo will be available with a 115kW 1.4 Turbopetrol or 89kW 1.6 JTDM engine.

Developed and produced by FPT - Fiat Powertrain Technologies - both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, however a DDCT (double clutch) automatic transmission is likely to be included at a later stage.

With the goal to achieve the maximum Euro NCAP safety rating, the MiTo has been designed with a considerable number of safety features.

To name a few, the MiTo boasts ABS, Dynamic Steering Torque and VDC which incorporates Hill Start Assist, traction control and assisted panic braking as well as seven airbags as standard.

Already represented in Australia by Ti versions of the Alfa Romeo 159 Ti and the 159 Sportwagon Ti, the new Brera Ti will initially be available with a 2.2 JTS (Manual and Selespeed) or 3.2 V6 engine.

The Turismo Internazionale namesake represents the best-equipped and performance engineered models in the Alfa range.

The Brera Ti features tuned suspension with a stiffer spring and damper rate, unique 19-inch alloy wheels inspired by the 8C Competizione and a Brembo brake package.

Inside is the usual combination of performance inspired black leather with red stitching complimented by brushed aluminium or optional carbon fibre accents.

Standard equipment includes dual zone climate control system and VDC stability system with optional extras such as a radio navigation system, xenon headlights, sky window, adjustable door mirrors with memory, luggage retaining net and sensor pack.

Alongside the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione supercar, the brand is also set to unveil a stunning topless version - the 8C Spider.

Both the 8C Competizione and Spider are equipped with a 4.7-litre V8 engine that develops 335kW, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
