Mazda to Moscow by rail

In a historic move, Mazda will begin large-scale transportation of vehicles using the Trans-Siberian Railroad (TSR) in an effort to supplement existing vehicle delivery from Japan to Russia.

As one of Russia's most popular brands, seeing double digit growth each month, Mazda will be the first car manufacturer to adopt the transport system for this use when things get under way on October 30.

The cars will first be shipped from their Hiroshima or Hofu manufactuing plants to Zarubino (near Vladivostok) where they will commence the 9,300 kilometre rail trip to Moscow on dedicated block trains. Each train consists of 30 rail cars which are fully enclosed and wrapped in a protective guard. All up the journey takes approximately ten days which will dramatically reduce delivery time over the standard ship and road method.
