2012 Peugeot 3008: New features, new price

The 2012 Peugeot 3008 has adopted the same two names from the 308 and 508 ranges to designate the two different trim levels available.

The Active starts at $36,490 and represents the entry-level model, replacing the XSE that started $500 lower, while the Allure starting at $39,990 is a notch above and replaces the XTE.

Peugeot 3008 Active models now include the previously standard equipment of dual-zone climate control air conditioning, cruise control with speed limiter, electronic parking assist, and 17-inch alloy wheels, but add Bluetooth/USB connectivity, panoramic glass roof and head-up display (pictured below).

The Allure goes one step further with leather upholstery, heated front seats with driver's lumbar support, auto-diming rear view mirror, front foot-well lighting, storage compartments in the rear floor, rear sun-blinds, electric folding mirrors, chrome exterior highlights, 18-inch wheels and Peugeot's distance alert system included in the $3500 premium.

Distance alert monitors the range of the car in front alerting the driver if the gap is reduced based on a driver-defined preset distance.

The Peugeot system does not control the car's braking like other radar controlled cruise control systems do but it does monitor distances constantly, whether cruise control is set or not.

Both Active and Allure models receive six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, dynamic roll control, emergency brake assist and a five-star ANCAP crash rating.

The line-up of motors remains unchanged with the 115kW/250Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 120kW/340Nm 2.0-litre 'HDi' turbo diesel, both tied to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel consumption figures are 7.7L/100km for the petrol and 6.6L/100km for the diesel with both engines meeting Euro 5 emissions standards.

Another bonus for the 2012 3008 range is Peugeot’s Assured Service - French for capped priced servicing, that already exists for the 308 and 508.

The plan means customers will know what their 3008 service costs will be in advance over three years (or 60,000 km) – Peugeot charging $330 per scheduled service under the scheme.
