Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS unfurls venetian roof

Dutch sports car manufacturer Savage Rivale has revealed the innovative new roof system created for its Roadyacht GTS four-door convertible supercar.

Co-developed with Inalfa Roof Systems, the Retractable Telescopic Multi Panel (RTMP) roof incorporates four glass panels with carbon fibre sills that slide along an extendable centre arm.

Inspired by venetian window blinds, the unique design means the Roadyacht GTS looks like a coupe with the roof on, yet still offers luggage space when the roof is collapsed by packaging tightly in the boot.

Savage Rivale said the RTMP took almost 12 months to develop and says it will spend another year finalising and testing the system before it launches on the production car.

The Roadyacht GTS is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine with 500kW of power and 730Nm of torque, helping it sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and kick on beyond 330km/h.

The car’s chrome molybdeme chassis underpins a carbon fibre body, which features four butterfly-style doors – the front ones hinged at the base of the A-pillars and the suicide rear doors hinged near the boot lid.
