Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio recalled over LED defect
More than 100 Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio vehicles have been recalled in Australia to repair a defect with the Italian sports cars’ rear lights.
The recall applies to 132 Maserati GranTurismo coupes and one Maserati GranCabrio convertible produced from 2010 onwards.
Spokesman for Maserati’s Australian distributor European Automotive Imports, Edward Rowe, said the affected cars’ rear lights were fitted with a defective batch of LED lamps, which could cause the individual taillights and brake lights to not illuminate.
The recall affects vehicles around the world, including more than 1700 in the US. Rowe confirmed there had been one report of a rear light failure in Australia.
Maserati Australia is contacting customers to arrange an inspection of their vehicles and, if necessary, replacement of the rear lights.
Rowe said the repair was a simple task and would be completed at dealerships in under an hour.
The latest recall is the fifth for the Maserati GranTursimo in Australia since 2009. Other issues affecting selected vehicles have related to the ball joint fastening nuts of the suspension levers, seatbelt warning system, rear tie-rods, and the transmission.
