Nissan Altima striptease continues

The next-generation Nissan Altima, which is very likely to replace the Maxima on the Australian market, has continued its never ending striptease showcasing its rear end in a seven second video posted on YouTube.

Although details are uncertain at this stage, we suspect the Altima may potentially play a role in Nissan's entry into the V8 supercars next year.

The Nissan Altima's Australian potentials are well timed, given its larger sibling, Nissan Maxima, has failed to make much of a dent in the struggling large car segment. Last year it found just 1923 buyers and so far this year it has claimed just 3.2 percent marketshare in a segment dominated by the three locals: Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon and Toyota Aurion.

Details of the 2013 Nissan Altima, which will make its debut at the New York motor show in April (and we will be there to cover it live), are so far rather limited, but the company’s global boss Carlos Ghosn told CarAdvice at January’s Detroit motor show that the new Altima was part Nissan’s plans for 2012 hinting at an end of year launch in North America.

We believe that Nissan Australia will likely stick with the Altima nameplate to retain the global naming structure.
