2013 Audi Q5 spy shots

Our spy photographers have captured more images of the 2013 Audi Q5 undergoing winter testing in Europe.

As these latest images reveal, the facelifted Q5 will adopt Audi’s new hexagonal grille, which cuts the edges off the top corners of the current trapezoidal fixture.

The revised headlights score a boomerang-shaped strip of LED daytime running lights along the upper inside edge, while the front bumper appears more aggressive with large black fog light housings and a delicate opening at the base of the grille.

The redesigned taillights feature an LED indicator strip along the upper edge, while the brake light pattern has also been tweaked.

Simple side skirts and a remodelled grey diffuser complete the major exterior changes.

The interior appears set to get a more significant makeover given Audi’s determination to keep this test car covered up, although at this stage it’s difficult to make out exactly what changes will take place.

The current powertrain options are tipped to carry over into the new model, with efficiency gains anticipated across the range. The test car pictured here is a TFSI turbo petrol model, which will be joined by a range of other turbocharged petrol and diesel options.

The updated Audi Q5 is set to launch overseas later this year, and should reach Australian showrooms in the first quarter of 2013.
