The price of the BMW 320d Coupe and Convertible models has increased $3000, but BMW Australia says it is now $4200 better value thanks to the addition of new 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive headlights, high beam assist, comfort access system with keyless entry and engine start button, and Navigation System Business.
The price of the two-door BMW 325i models is unchanged, while the extra features means value is up $7280. New standard equipment includes 18-inch light alloy wheels, adaptive headlights, high beam assist, anti-dazzle exterior mirrors and Navigation Package Professional.
The flagship diesels, the BMW 330d Coupe and Convertible, are $2000 more expensive than before, but benefit from new features that make them $3970 better value. Similar to the 325i, the updated package adds 18-inch light alloys, adaptive headlights, anti-dazzle exterior mirrors, a Harmon Kardon sound system and Navigation Package Professional.
Finally, the price of the high-performance BMW 335i M Sport Coupe has fallen $5150, and the open-top version is down $5300. Now standard with a Harmon Kardon audio system and anti-dazzle side mirrors, value has improved $7180 and $7330 respectively.
The upgrades come hot on the heels of the launch of the all-new BMW 3-Series sedan as BMW Australia aims to keep interest in the Coupe and Convertible, which continue with the styling of the previous-generation sedan.
BMW Australia sold 1112 3-Series Coupes and Convertibles in Australia in 2011, down 28 per cent compared with 2010. They were outsold in the ‘$80,000+ Sports’ segment by the newer, more expensive Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe/Convertible (1371), but held off the Audi A5 Sportback/Coupe/Cabriolet (1073).
After January and February this year, the three A5 variants lead the segment with 205 sales, followed by the E-Class two-door twins (202), the Mercedes-Benz SLK (193) and then the 3-Series Coupe/Convertible (118).
