Subaru BRZ: UK specification revealed

The BRZ is a 2+2 coupe that has already attracted a keen level of interest across Subaru dealerships in the United Kingdom, with many customers having placed deposits on cars prior to knowing either the price or standard equipment specifications.

The top spec BRZ models come with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, MP3 connectivity (although it's unclear if that includes Bluetooth phone and audio streaming), dual-zone climate control, seven airbags, torque-sensing LSD and Subaru’s VDC (vehicle dynamic control).

The standard transmission for the BRZ is a six-speed short-throw manual, or buyers can option a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Subaru in the UK will also offer a second, lower-spec BRZ variant later in the year, as well as a third ‘stripped-out’ version that will be skewed toward buyers that want tune their own cars and those enthusiasts that want to attend track days.

The BRZ will be available in six colours including Subaru’s familiar WR blue mica, satin white, sterling silver, crystal black silica, dark metal grey and San Remo red.

Highlights of Subaru’s BRZ include a horizontally opposed 147kW 2.0-litre Boxer engine, which is said to be positioned lower than ever before, for a lower centre of gravity. With a power-to-weight ratio of 121kW per tonne and a lightweight chassis and composite materials, the BRZ offers precise handling and strong performance.
