2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport for Australia in late 2012

The Maserati GranTurismo Sport will be unveiled at next month’s Geneva motor show ahead of its Australian launch at the end of this year.

The 2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport will become the new flagship model in the Italian sports car maker’s coupe line-up, offering enhanced exterior styling, a redesigned interior and performance hikes.

The magicians at Modena have squeezed a further 12kW out of the GranTurismo’s 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, giving the Sport model 343kW in total. Performance data has not yet been revealed, but expect a 0-100km/h sprint time of less than 5.0 seconds.

The front end benefits from a redesigned bumper, with larger intakes for improved airflow to cool the engine and brakes.

LED daytime running lights and new dark-tone taillights give the Sport a unique character.

Inside, the front and rear seats have been redesigned and the steering wheel has been reshaped for a sportier, more muscular feel.

More details of the 2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport will be revealed at its Geneva premiere on March 6. Stay tuned.
