2013 Range Rover spy shots: Interior sneak peek

Land Rover has been spotted testing a prototype of the upcoming 2013 Range Rover Vogue. The new model is expected to be much lighter and more fuel efficient than the current model, which at its lightest weighs 2.6 tonnes and uses 9.4 litres per 100km at its most frugal.

The new model will be built on an all-aluminium platform, which is expected to shed plenty of weight. To further enhance fuel efficiency, a new eight-speed automatic transmission will sit behind a range of engines similar to those in today’s models. A hybrid is also said to be in the pipeline further down the track.

During winter testing, our spy photographers managed to get right up close to this prototype and give us a look at the interior. As we can see, there’s a new, larger infotainment interface screen sitting atop the central fascia.

It’s hard to spot the detailed styling revisions that will be made, with very heavy camouflage bulking up the front end.

There’s also a fake bonnet cover giving the impression of boxy traditional styling. Underneath, however, could hide a curvier design potentially blending into a pair of wrap-around headlights as seen on the new Range Rover Evoque.
