Umberto Palermo Design Vittoria concept at Qatar motor show

Italian design house Umberto Palermo Design has unveiled one of the more unique concepts of the 2012 Qatar motor show.

The UP Design Vittoria is a futuristic supercar concept with a curvaceous body, a glass dome roof and a face only a mother could love.

The front air intakes are segmented into 11 rectangles of varying shapes and sizes. The peculiar theme is repeated at the rear to better effect, with the exhaust outlets integrated into six matching slits.

The swept back headlights are reminiscent of a number of Italian sports cars, while the elegant LED taillights share plenty in common with the Ford Evos concept revealed at last year’s Frankfurt motor show.

The metallic white side panels incorporate flowing doors, allowing access to the fishbowl cabin, which seemingly draws inspiration from Homer Simpson’s famous design.

UP Design says the Vittoria is a high-performance hybrid, with an electric motor assisting a V8 petrol engine, although that’s largely irrelevant given the car is a pure design concept and not destined for production.
