2012 will be a consolidation year for Volvo after a very busy 2011 for the Chinese-owned Swedish car manufacturer, but there’s still some key activity.
Vehicle type: Small car. Timing: 2013 for Australia
An all-new five-door hatch called the V40 will be revealed at the 2012 Geneva motor show in March hat will sell along side Volvo’s C30 coupe.
The new V40, Volvo’s answer to the Volkswagen Golf, will be revealed but won’t arrive in Australian showrooms until 2013.
No news on pricing as yet, but expect it to be a viable alternative to Volkswagen’s Golf model.
S60 Polestar – medium sedan – from January
Volvo Cars Australia has just launched the S60 Polestar as a world first initiative in Australia, and if sales of the high-performance Polestar-tuned S60 sedan meet expectations, then expect the Volvo performance tuning program to expand to other existing models including the C30.
S80 refresh – Large car – July
Volvo’s flagship S80 sedan dropped its punchy Yamaha developed V8 engine in July 2011 (in Australia) and is only available with the turbo-petrol six, but a model refresh is expected in the first half of 2012. No information on pricing as yet.
