Socceroo Jason Culina hops into an Elfin

Australian Socceroo Jason Culina has added an Elfin to his garage after being blown away by its performance on a test drive at Eastern Creek.

The track-inspired MS8 Clubman purchased from Adam Kaplan’s Supercar Investments in Sydney is powered by an LS1 V8 engine inherited from the Holden range.

Culina is currently with Dutch team PSV and will play a pivotal role in the Socceroo’s journey to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

“There is nothing more exhilarating than taking this car out on the track and hearing the roar of V8 engine and feeling the breeze whisk through your hair!”

He is also a closet car fanatic, listing Top Gear as his favourite television program.

Since its purchase in 2007 by HSV-owner Tom Walkinshaw, the new MS8 Clubman represents a modern interpretation of the original first conceived by Elfin founder Garrie Cooper in 1961.

With a price tag of $84,990 the Elfin MS8 Clubman is Australia's answer to the likes of Lotus, Caterham and Ariel.

A new model codenamed the 'Type 5' which is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine has also been previewed recently as the latest addition to the growing Elfin line-up.
