Kia Ray revealed: Only for Korea

The Kia Ray is an all-new city car from the South Korean manufacturer. If you like what you see, we’ve got bad news for you: the Ray is not coming to Australia, and will be sold exclusively in its domestic market.

Kia released the first official images of its new micro-box overnight, labelling it an economical, spacious and versatile light car.

Kia will confirm the Ray’s powertrain and performance details closer to its launch.

The Kia Ray looks a bit like a cross between a Kia Picanto and a Kia Soul, combining a cute face with a boxy body.

At the front, the Ray features Kia’s signature grille along with bold headlights and LED daytime running lights.

The rear passenger doors slide to make climbing aboard and jumping out easier, while also creating a larger load space to access the boot.

The chunky wheel arches give the rear a wide stance, which is emphasised by the vertical reflectors and uniquely shaped LED taillights.

If the name Kia Ray sounds familiar, it may be because Kia used the same name for a completely different concept vehicle in 2010. The Kia Ray Concept was an exciting four-door coupe plug-in hybrid with a driving range of 1200km.
