2013 Ford Escape interior teased: video

Ford has teased the interior of the all-new 2013 Ford Escape.

The video – designed to demonstrate the functionality of the upgraded MyFord Touch infotainment system – gives us a sneak peak at the interior of the new Escape about one week out from the international debut of the production model at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The interior takes some inspiration from the Ford Vertrek Concept that was unveiled at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The centre console is similar, with a large, high-mounted touchscreen and vertical air vents. Like the Vertrek Concept, the dashboard cover is relatively flat to allow for better visibility.

There appears to be plenty of different materials and surface textures used throughout the cabin, including leather on the seats and steering wheel, piano black around the display screen and satin chrome on the door handles and grabs, steering wheel, air vents and instrument cluster surrounds.

The Escape in the video features the new MyFord Touch system, which is, so far, largely designed for the North American market and is unlikely to feature in Australian-spec Escapes in the short term.

Last month we reported the new Escape would become the first Ford vehicle to offer the choice of two different EcoBoost engines. The highly efficient turbocharged direct-injection petrol engines will be available in the Escape in 1.6- and 2.0-litre displacements.

The new 2013 Ford Escape will go on sale overseas early next year. An Australian launch is expected later in 2012.
