These photos are of the FT-86 racecar which is set to compete in the German VLN series on the Nürburgring in a few hours time.
This is the second time Toyota has used the series to show off a prototype of an upcoming model, having done the same thing with the Lexus LF-A.
With the Tokyo Motorshow only a few weeks away, the final version of the FT-86 is expected to be finally unveiled before year's end. Perhaps then we will actually know how much power and torque it has and most importantly, what it will actually look like.
Toyota's marketing department has made the most out of promoting the upcoming sportscar, which has been good for rebuilding Toyota's sporty credentials but at the same time has brought on rather high expectations.
Like most of you, we're also highly anticipating Subaru's version of the car and hoping that there will be an STI edition of the rear-wheel drive coupe.
