Audi RS5 Cabrio spy photos

The all-mighty RS5 is set to go roofless with the release of the upcoming Audi RS5 Cabrio, which was caught testing at the Nurburgring yesterday.

Powered by a 4.2-litre V8 developing a healthy 331kW and 430Nm of torque, the Audi RS5 Cabrio will be one of the sportiest convertibles around the $200,000 mark - if it went on sale in Australia. The two-door coupe version is currently on sale for $175,300.

Power is transmitted to all four wheels via Audi's quattro system which is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

These pictures show what appears to be a simple S5 Cabrio from the rear but is actually an RS5 underneath. The RS5 lookalike frontend is an easy give away (despite the S5 badge), as are the bigger brakes and wider fenders.

Although bigger than the BMW M3 convertible, the RS5 is likely to find it self positioned for those looking at something more unique than an M3 convertible  ($173,700 for manual) but not as expensive as the Audi R8 or BMW 6 Series or upcoming M6 convertible.
