An Ohio teenager was given a unique present for her 16th birthday: the keys to the car she was born in.
Johanna Kearns was born in her mother’s 1989 Toyota Corolla in 1995 while her parents were on the way to the hospital.
Johanna’s mother, Nancy, doesn’t sugarcoat the events of that fateful morning 16 years ago:
“I’m looking at the clock in the car and the contractions are like every 30 seconds,” she told the local WCPO news team, before admitting Johanna “came out through my shorts and on the floor”.
Nancy said the now-22-year-old Corolla was a “very nice” car in its day, equipped with electric windows and doors, although is now a little worse for wear.
Despite this, Johanna loves it, and says: “It’s like my baby, even though I’m more like its baby.”
Unsurprisingly, the faded, rusted Toyota has a few nicknames, including ‘Red Monster’, ‘The Birthmobile’, and the disturbingly graphic ‘The Placenta’.
