Lexus GS 300 X Sport, Sports Luxury run-out models released

Lexus Australia has introduced the ‘X’ package for the Lexus GS 300 Sport and Sports Luxury models.

The Lexus GS 300 X Sport scores a moonroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, smart entry key card, clearance and reversing sonar, rear lip spoiler and X badging.

Already equipped with a moonroof, smart entry and sonar system in standard spec, the Lexus GS 300 X Sports Luxury also benefits from 18-inch alloys, rear spoiler and X badging.

The GS 300 X editions will be available with new Starlight Black paint, which according to Lexus contains special glass flakes that reflect and refract light and allow it to shine through to the base coat.

The Lexus GS 300 X Sport is priced from $89,900, and the Lexus GS 300 X Sports Luxury is priced $5000 higher at $94,900 – representing combined extra value and savings of around $10,000 for both models.

The release of the X package is an attempt from Lexus Australia to maintain consumer interest in the outgoing GS range, which was first launched Down Under more than six and a half years ago.

Lexus sold just 58 GS sedans in Australia in the first eight months of 2011, leaving it well behind the segment leaders: Mercedes-Benz E-Class (1001), BMW 5 Series (931), Audi A6 (458) and Jaguar XF (348).

Lexus will be hoping to get a big sales boost from the highly publicised and heavily anticipated all-new Lexus GS performance luxury sedan when it goes on sale in Australia next year.

The range will be launched by the GS 350 and GS 350 F Sport in the second quarter of 2012, and followed by the GS 450h hybrid in the second half of the year.
